Cecilio Musical Instruments upgrades Trumpets with Monel ValvesSoaap Music NewsCecilio Musical Instruments upgrades Trumpets with Monel Valves ![]() Cecilio Musical Instruments has upgraded selected models of their student level trumpets with Monel pistons. Monel is series of stainless metal alloys, primarily composed of nickel and copper, with some iron and other trace elements. It is resistant to corrosion and acids. Monel is typically much more expensive than stainless steel and pistons made of Monel steel are often used in professional trumpet because they retain precision fit and smooth action over many years.
"Upgrading to Monel pistons represents a commitment by Cecilio to continuously improve our products in order to offer the best value to our dealers and Cecilio players," says Derek Zimmerman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Cecilio Musical Instruments. "The new pistons allow the trumpet to play with smoother action and they enhance the tone of the instruments as well."
Monel pistons are currently available on models TT-280, TT-280G, TT-280BK, and TT-280BL. Plans are in place to upgrade all trumpet models to include Monel pistons throughout 2008.
