How To Choose The Proper Cello Size?

Choosing the proper cello size requires the player sitting at the edge of a chair with the feet flat upon the floor and the knees bent at a ninety degree angle. The cello should sit in this fashion:
  • The upper edge of the cello should rest against the center of the chest (on the sternum).
  • The C peg should be slightly behind the left ear.
  • The knees should lightly grip the lower bouts ensuring that the corners do not dig into the side of legs (Corners should be slightly above the inside of the knees).
  • The player should be able to reach both ends of the fingerboard with ease.
